I wanted to love it, but I just couldn’t do it. The ambiance is cozy and wonderful, especially on a cold weeknight, but the food wasn’t any better than any other average neighborhood restaurant.

Got the burger, it was decent but it just comes with chips (pretty sure they were Ruffles) which is insane at $17. And a very small $9 pancake... probably won't return.

2-hour wait on a Friday night, but try and find a place at the bar - it's worth it. The beets in avocado and chicken were incredible.

the dress code is ridiculously relaxed but the food is serious. the arctic char is a stand-out, as is the basement dining annex by the fireplace. bread pudding for dessert is never a mistake.

Go to Vinegar Hill House and be happy that you stayed in Brooklyn. They will be nice to you even if you are the only person in the place not wearing plaid. Also, there is a fireplace.
