Erin FinneganSeptember 8, 2013Pro Tip: For better bathrooms, pop into the Grand Hyatt next door - up the escalators, to the rear of the lobby on the right. I've never been stopped by the bellhops.
Don't wait in long lines at the automated ticket machines on the main concourse level. There are several standalone machines on the lower level by the food court (Tracks 100+). Never a wait!

Stuck in midtown in the evening and need to get home? Stop by at Grand Central for easy bathroom (alright not the cleanest but passable) and then easy access to most subway lines. And it'll be empty!

If you're taking the Metro-North Hudson line, sit on the left side of the train out of GCT for the best views of the Hudson River
Hunter TauFebruary 2, 2012Go in, try the "whispering gallery" (unmarked archway, located in front of the Oyster Bar & Restaurant, speak on either side and the other can hear you) and get out of this tourist trap.
The Beverage Bar over by the Times Square shuttle passage is the last shop to close (2am). Go there to get that last beer on the commuter train home!

New double outlets at each seat in some of these newer cars are really nice. Good to charge one's phone coming home from the city.

if you are standing on an escalator, it is courteous to leave room to your left for those who may wish to get by you. standing in the way can cause people to miss their train ride home!!

make sure to try to the whispering gallery. it really works. it's where u can hear someone else from the other side of the hall because of the acoustic ceiling shape.
How is this spot not more popular? Great public space in the Spring. Come out, sit on the benches/chairs/ledges, and soak in some glorious, glorious sun.

If you want to meander around grand central terminal, think about the name of this place! go at non-rush hour times. It's not times square. And pay attention to where you're walking, not your phone.
