CompassAugust 12, 2013Established and themed exhibits rotate throughout the year; the public amphitheater entrance makes for a popular people-watching and lunch hour gathering spot.
The permanent collection is very impressive and Brooklyn-centric. The rotating exhibits are world class, too.

James G.December 4, 2011Checkout the HIDE/SEEK exhibit if you get a chance. It's the same exhibition known best for the controversy it caused in DC when it first opened in October of 2010 at the National Portrait Gallery.

There are some wonderful surprises in the Luce Center for American Art, such as an array of Latin American Spanish Colonial paintings, silverwork, polychrome sculpture, and furniture. Don't miss it!

The Counter Cafe is excellent! Try the Croque Monsieur--outstanding! The lentil soup was great!

Their African collection is worth the travel to Brooklyn! ;-) Mind you it's a permanent collection!
Stop by the Brooklyn Roasting Company stand in the lobby, but only after you finish with the museum (they don't tell you that you can't bring drinks inside)

Come see the small GO exhibit. It gives you an idea of what Brooklyn artists currently does. Make sure check out the iPad with all open studios weekend images! Nice project! Up till Feb 18, 2013
The museum is not open 7 days a week. Museum timing: Wed 11A.M. - 6PM, Thu 11AM - 10PM, Fri, Sat, Sun - 11AM - 6PM. First Saturdays every month except sep. Entry free beyond 5PM.
