- Nate SJune 14, 2019Incredible service. We came for a special occasion and were treated so well - got a seat at a large velvet booth downstairs in the speakeasy. Photobooth is 3 bucks, leave an email for digital copy.Upvoted Apr 6
- Suli ChongApril 15, 2013Quite a gem. The shrimp & grits transformed my generally negative impression of grits. The Pork Belly was fall off the bone to die for and the truffle pasta complimented everything else very nicely.
- Cameron WAugust 28, 2017The truffle pasta is awesome. Their pastas in general are really good. The cocktails we had were also very good. Great interior and the service was friendly and attentive. Two thumbs up!
- Helen ParkJuly 26, 2015Loved the foie gras. Truffle pasta is unique. I liked it but I think it's better for a few people to share/taste rather than finish a plate by oneself.
- Madeline GullettAugust 9, 2015I loved the cocktails! The restaurant is dark which I love. There is an even darker eating area/bar hidden downstairs that is very dark and cozy. I'll definitely be down there next time I go!
- Chicago TribuneAugust 1, 2014The roasted chicken, seasoned with oregano and roasted garlic, is as simple and classic as dishes get. But the chicken is juicy perfection, a reminder of how soul-satisfying roast chicken can be.
- Time Out ChicagoDecember 6, 2011Try the ham and cheese fondue from our 100 Best list:Take a croque-madame, increase the cheese tenfold, melt it in a crock, fold in ham, put the egg on top and use the bread on the side, for dipping.
- Chicago TribuneAugust 1, 2014Pork belly can be found all over town, but I recommend sampling Gilt Bar's superior version, consisting of meaty slices under a raspberry-shallot glaze, over farro verde and wax beans.
- Preston KApril 26, 2019Make a reservation in the library (downstairs). Food and drinks are outstanding. The service is top notch. Check out the photo booth after dinner.
- Mark WongOctober 10, 2015Come here for the truffle pasta, tenderloin steak tartare and heirloom tomatoes, bursts and basil. You will NOT be disappointed.
- ChelseaJuly 8, 2013The steak tartare is to die for! Pork meatballs and pork belly are also delicious. House red wine for $4 can't be beat. Also try the Bee's Knees - awesome cocktail!
- TKGOSeptember 2, 2012The Pimm's Cup is phenomenal. And so are the foie gras, beef tartare, mussels, truffle pasta, and the pork belly. Stellar.
- DaviJuly 15, 2017The vodka smash is so refreshing and the truffle pasta so satisfying. Absolutely in love with Gilt! Have been many times and always have a great time.

- The chicken is an a suite must! Also, they have a cool policy with byob wine. Bring a bottle and instead of corkage fee you share a glass!
- Brennan KnottsMay 22, 2012They make great drinks here. I had a Negroni before dinner and the Whiskey Sour after. Also, if it's still on the menu get the confit bacon entree. Bacon for dinner!
- Hugo BonderJanuary 10, 2019The mussels, from Maine, are fresh, delicious and huge. Great service and prices!

- Ali OopSeptember 8, 2014I would recommend any of the pastas in a second! They all had pork which I generally can't eat (so that's a bummer), but I did it anyway this time ;)
- Rebecca RickertDecember 28, 2014Downstairs is an amazing little speakeasy!! Great cocktails, great atmosphere and great service!!!!
- Chicago magazineApril 16, 2012The smashed red potatoes with chicken jus are among the best spuds in town—and save room for the desserts, which are downplayed as dinerworthy but are masterpieces in disguise. Read more
- Aaron SilversOctober 4, 2011Loud, but nice ambience, great Old Fashioned(s) and very good food. Downstairs is cash-only but it's a great hangout space if you don't mind talking loudly over the music and/or the band. Read more
- NevermoreAugust 15, 2019Though you can't make reservations at the Library, you can reserve a table at Gilt Bar and ask to be seated downstairs.
- This place is amazing. Key things to order: Bone Marrow, Orechiette, Shrimp & Grits. Also the Old Fashioneds are to die for. Well, they are pretty good.

- Crain's Chicago BusinessAugust 20, 2010Gilt's beer list anchors the drinks menu with a dozen on tap and about 30 in the bottle, ranging from local brews to Belgian specialty pours. Wines by the glass pull from an eclectic wine list, but th Read more

- Jane LeDecember 16, 2015Gorgeous interior! The steak tartare was amazing, as was the truffle pasta. Rich, and so worth it!
- Laura YeeAugust 27, 2010Five women shared two "toast" items (beef tartar and boratti with heirloom tomatoes), two pastas, mussels, french fries and the steak followed by warm brownie with ice cream and blackberries. Delish.
- Shirley LiuAugust 20, 2012Get the bone marrow, the pasta, and all of their desserts. Skip the cocktails if you're not picky and get their table wine
- Sandi AndersonDecember 9, 2017Love the side dishes to share. They’re all delicious and the craft cocktails rock.
- From the people that brought you Maude's and Au Cheval... yum! Steak tar tar is excellent.
- Get the Brussel spouts, tartars, pot roast!!! If secure with your manhood, get the bee sting cocktail, gruner veltliner wine and Grenache.

- Miyeon PreskyOctober 22, 2012Sticky toffee cake with coffee ice cream or something is soo amazing. We saw everyone else was ordering it too.
- Grady TwohigFebruary 23, 2014Salmon was great...crispy on the outside and not over-cooked! Brussels sprout salad is awesome too!

- Paul MillerAugust 9, 2012Ask for Tony - all of his recommendations were great! Amazing food! Try ordering a few things & share with the table.
- The Gunthorp Farm chicken is wonderful, succulent. The ribeye was tasty but far too fatty. The slow braised kale and marinated red cabbage just about perfect. My opinion? The honkytonk music must go!
