- Eating at the bar at Yamo gives the satisfaction of feeling like you’re grabbing a quick bite on the way home from work in Blade Runner
- Matthew HuieJune 7, 2016Outside of my uncle's kitchen, Yamo has some of the best Burmese food I've ever had! The chicken noodle soup (khao swè) is very tasty! There are only 8 seats but it's worth the wait. Cash only.
- Starry KitchenFebruary 9, 2015One of the best if not THE best Tea Leaf Salad's I've ever had. Yamo House Special Noodle #protip: mix it WELL, let it sit for a few minutes and THEN enjoy (oh, and NO PICTURES! tee hee hee)
- AFAR MediaAugust 12, 2014The tea leaf salad is crunchy, sweet & spicy all at once! The chicken noodle soup is with a splash of coconut. The house noodles are tasty/oily while the chicken noodles aren't. Skip the spring rolls. Read more
- Holger LüdorfJuly 22, 2014Great hole-in-the-wall with only 8 seats at the bar. Dirt cheap (no dish more than $6). All dishes made fresh before your eyes. Just laugh at the grumpy chefs behind the counter.
- Doris CacoiloSeptember 4, 2014I agree about house noodles and tea leaf salad!! Both amazing. Take away or snag one of the few seats at the bar (smoky but totally worth the yums!)
- Erich WiernaszJuly 16, 2015Delicious and super cheap. There is one line for both dine in and take out, so make sure you're in the right place in line. Get the house noodles with beef and a Mexican coke.
- Marina MarescaOctober 7, 2014Chicken salad with hot perfectly crisped chicken, crunchy wide noodles, red onion and chili. Known for good, cheap food and no frills service. Always a unique experience. Those ladies are badass OGs
- Atef ChaudhuryApril 11, 2021Great price, menu has a few good items: house noodles (both cold and hot), tea salad, house rice. Rest are relatively okay but still worth the price.
- Joshua HaftelFebruary 7, 2015Eating in or taking out, Yamo never fails to satisfy. They've changed their tea salad recently though, making it sweeter. Chicken noodle soup, house noodles, and samusas are all good.
- Elias BizJune 15, 2018Hole in the wall, cash only but does take out and cheap. The tea salad + noodles with beef = perfect. The onion in the tea salad spices it up good.
- Tea leaf salad, cold noodles, and the chicken noodle soup are favorites but you can't go wrong with anything here. Splurge and order half the menu; it will only cost $30.
- Simran KalraNovember 12, 2017Came with Jeanne during off hours I.e 4:30pm...perfect time to get a seats. Had tea leaf salad, house noodles and black bean fish ....all were awesome!
- Kayvon TehranianAugust 12, 2012One of the real gems of the Mission District. The tea leaf salad is a must. And be sure to soak in the unique experience of sitting so close as the three women of Yamo work their magic.
- Love the house noodles and spicy cold noodles. There's barely any seating in the tiny hot space, so be prepared to find somewhere else to eat. I recommend Dolores Park a few blocks away.
- House noodle with beef is extra nice when you eat it here... Perhaps because you are more inclined to utilize the fish sauce and chili oils on the counter.
- Michael G.February 24, 2019Hilariously inexpensive food in a counter-only noodle shop. The chicken noodle soup is out of this world. Mango chicken was delicious. Spinach noodles were just okay.
- Gentry HenryJuly 8, 2014Tea leaf salad is slightly life changing. Don't make plans after your meal, you will smell (delicious) like you slaved over the flames that cooked the MSG in all it's glory.
- EvieMay 16, 2017Everything is delicious here - be sure to get the tea salad and house noodles with beef.
- The house noodles are inexpensive and so good! I can do without the spring rolls next time though.
- T ZAugust 20, 2015Limited seating space. These noodles with beef were amazing & very filling. Mango salad is eh... and it's spicy. They only have / sell bottled water.
- The ladies are mean, there's generally a line, and everything is $6. Definitely go for the tea leaf salad.
- Billy ChanOctober 17, 2013Walk in get the nod what's up? Then white hair lady yells "to go!?!" I get my coconut chicken noodle soup fix here! She's not mean I always get a real sweet thank you back when I thank her for my food
- Jeff WeinsteinAugust 9, 2014Get there early to avoid the line. Maybe go in a pair (or alone) and order noodles with chicken, dumplings, and tea salad. Cash.
- tina 🏄🏻♀️ 🎟🎹🎼🍜🍣🥃September 15, 2013This place reminds me of Asian local street food place. Tea salad is great. House noodle looks good too. It's long line, may be better to order a takeout.
- L LJanuary 23, 2014Ordered the tea leaf salad for pickup and got something really wilted, bitter and a little stale tasting. I did like the house noodles with beef, and will definitely order it again in the future.
- Sean SalmonMay 1, 2014So the ventilation system is suboptimal and it's a little smoky inside but you'll get over it when you're eating the delicious Tea Leaf salad
- MarkSeptember 16, 2012Come for the food, not the service. It can get a little soup nazi-Ish at times, but that's the beauty of it! Know what you want and don't be a jerk. :-)
- Lindsey DuffNovember 6, 2014Authentic and delicious. Small place but worth the wait. Tea salad and house noodles with chicken (or beef)... AMAZE. 🙌
- Charles BSeptember 21, 2011incredible hole in the wall spot. mango chicken and fresh coconut juice is the order. make sure you don't plan on wearing those close any time soon cuz you're gonna smell like Burma...
- Coconut chicken noodle soup is pretty great. Small portions, though. Also don't even think about getting seated without everyone in your party present.
- Loren MattiaJanuary 16, 2014The ladies who work here will cut you if you take a while to decide what you want. But in an endearing kinda way. The food is legit!
- Yotam TroimMarch 17, 2015Tea salad is great (and spicy). The fried rice special is delicious. Well worth the wait and smoke.
- Billy BarrMarch 26, 2013Really cute little joint.. don't be intimated by the decor, the smallness of the place...delish food! Truly "hole in the wall" joint!
- Easily one of my favourite places in the city. Cheap and yummy.
- Ashley KemperOctober 7, 2016Noodles as amazingly delicious as the service is surly. Order fast, east faster, leave happy!
- Everything is amazing...I love curry fish with rice, chicken noodle soup, house noodles/fried chow mein with chicken and samusas
- Jimmy LuApril 30, 2016Cheap and good! Mix vegetables with noodles please! We call the ladies here the noodle nazis.
- Jimmy HookerAugust 7, 2014The grease soaked crabby old ladies who make the food are amazing, and so is the food. It's also cheap as hell.
- Ros HodgekissMay 23, 2013Homestyle Burmese food - low on glamour and free seating, high on cheap and very good fried noodles!
- Barton SmithJune 12, 2012Try and get there before 7:30. Eat at the bench or call for take out. Lining up to order isn't much fun.
- Luke BornheimerMay 25, 2013Mango salad was a nice balance of sweet and spicy. The chow mien was oily and soggy, albeit tasty. Yamo is a good place for a cheap meal or to soak up drinks after you've had too many. Otherwise, meh.
- Cheryl ChangAugust 29, 2013Legitimate hole in the wall that serves cheap Burmese food. Don't expect Burma Superstar quality and the portions are small. But the tea leaf salad IS yummy!
- Anjali OttingerJanuary 4, 2014Greatest little spot, delicious, inexpensive and always good! Worth the wait!
- try the yamo cold noodles, chicken noodle soup, mango salad, mango chicken, curry chicken noodles. you really can't go wrong w/anything. and if you do, you're only down $6.
- Connie ZhengNovember 19, 2013According to a Burmese cab driver I had, this is the best (and most authentic) Burmese food in SF.
