If you're extra tired when getting off the Red Line and wanting to transfer to Pasadena, bypass the elevators and all that walking-ask the nearest Amtrak employee about the magic teleporters!

Upgrade to business class on the surfliner, especially on Fridays when it's standing room only. Guaranteed seat, free drink and a snack...Totally worth the few extra bucks!

Rendezvous at one of the most beautiful train stations in the country. Leave time for an art deco dining experience at Traxx Restaurant – it’s so romantically retro! #vday

Baggage claim is by the Subway sandwich shop. Keep your baggage tickets to give to the train employee.

Leave your damn kids at home if you're taking the last train, better yet don't get on. You may think your kid is cute but they're really just f'ing annoying after 9 pm when people are trying to sleep.

The 2010 National Train Day was every bit as crowded (but a lot better organized) as 2009. Enter the vast expanse of the main waiting room and become an instant convert to the romance of rail travel

Forget using the electrical outlets to recharge your phone or plug in your computer. Many (most) don't work. Recharge your phone at the left phone booth between the first front and side entrance.
