The tongue and brain sandwich is interesting, the brains are almost like an Oyster. There is street parking but you can park at the Ross for two hours if you buy something or one hour.

On Fridays Iranian Americans flock to the courtyard for abgoosht: lamb-and-bean stew that’s mashed into a paste and served w/ lamb broth and pickles. More places to eat like a local: tandl.me/12ufz7c

Food blogger Sanam of My Persian Kitchen recommends Attari Sandwich Shop. "My favorite is the beef tongue sandwich with tender tongue on a baguette with tomato, pickles, crispy onions, and parsley."

The full-service Attari Grill, with an extensive Persian menu, is next door, but things always seem happier at the original sandwich shop. Read more

Everyone is here for Attari's sandwiches: lengths of toasted French bread dressed with fresh tomatoes, lettuce and a smattering of spiced, super-tart Iranian pickles. Read more

Kabobs, koobideh, can't go wrong with either the Persian rice or the bread. The sandwiches are light and delicious too.

Little piece of Tehran in LA: Kuku sandwich and Lubia soup are the best, but if you can get there on Friday, try the Kebab!
