- ZenFoodsterNovember 23, 2015Love steamed buns w/ 'shroom & bok choy & pan-fried egg & chive 1's. Star item is Chinese hand-pulled noodle called "la-mien"-NOT Japanese ramen. Don't order veggie 1 & have it hand-cut 4 xtra $1.
- Be sure to order the delicious steamed pork buns or steamed crab meat pork buns. These are what are otherwise known as Shanghai soup dumplings or xiao long bao (XLB). They are freshly handmade.
- Savannah PetrickFebruary 23, 2016the xiao long bao are juicy and the skin is a good thickness but the meat isn't super tasty. duck buns are yummy. service is really quick & the place feels authentic, especially by midtown standards.
- Amanda NanawaDecember 29, 2015Really good, fresh dumplings and all at a very affordable price. Clean restaurant & bathroom was impeccable. We ordered pan fried dumplings, steamed pork dumplings, & wonton soup w/dumplings. Tasty!
- How to eat the steamed dumplings: Lift one onto your spoon. Poke a tiny hole in the top of the thin skinned wrapper. If desired, top with some vinegar & ginger. Blow to cool. Sip out the soup. Eat.
- Alyssa B.September 7, 2022Great chinese ramen, i just wish they used better shrimp but I can’t complain with the balanced taste. Always order the scallion beef pancake- a must!
- Malcolm ChangApril 28, 2017An outpost of the original location in Flushing, it's a pleasant surprise to stumble on it in Midtown East. Try the signature soup dumplings - the skins are really thin and easy to break.
- James H.November 24, 2018We enjoyed the warm service and good dim sum. The shop is clean and nicely decorated with very good soup dumplings, buns and noodle dishes. A welcoming experience.
- Liliana AndradeAugust 24, 2017Please, try different dishes to share with friends so you can enjoy a variety of delicious steam dumplings!
- Feels like a small local Chinese joint straight out of China. Meaning authentic Chinese food. They even had Fan Qie Chao Ji Dan (Tomato and Stir-Fried Egg) which I don't usually come across here.
- On the pricier side for the portion size, however what you are getting is a very authentic meal that is high quality and delicious.
- Don't let the restaurant name fool you. This is a very authentic restaurant. The "ramen" is not Japanese ramen, but are hand-pulled noodles similar lo mein.
- The soup dumplings here are even better than those at Joe's Shanghai. You can watch them being made, also.
- Supercat 27June 16, 2015The vegetable bun is delicious: Mushroom and Bok Choy very well flavored. It will leave your mouth satisfied
- D CMay 1, 2018wonton soup is my favorite menu item here (my mom raves about it too). 牛肉夹饼 a close second
- That pounding sound you hear in the kitchen is from one of the cooks pounding and hand pulling the dough into fine noodles.
- DavidOctober 30, 2018Mala bowl was really good. Seemed pretty authentic — wood ear, daikon, szechuan peppercorn. Mmmm still tingly.
- Xiaolongbao have just the perfect minimum amount of skin necessary to contain all that soup inside.
- Zack KantorFebruary 21, 2016soupy dumps have a fire ratio (skin thickness to amount of soup) 🔥 but lack the flavor of Chinatown buns
- Chris NatoliJuly 26, 2015Stir fried "ramen" has really good noodles, but the vegetarian one doesn't have many vegetables
- James H.February 26, 2019We love the food but were disappointed with added service charge 15% for two diners plus tip line with more suggested gratuities on credit slip. Were they hoping we missed the service charge on bill?
- Polina WeitzNovember 26, 2017The pork soup dumplings are good, but I've had better. The pan-fried pork dumplings are great as always.
- ZenFoodsterNovember 23, 2015Sista to its W'side original, this Midtown E joint is pricy but real deal. Oily Shanghai spring rolls, OK XLBs & thick-skinned but tasty Pan-fried pork dumplings. Ask 4 black vinegar & ginger w/ XLBs
- ZenFoodsterJanuary 27, 2016Pauline not only 1) lied abt being manager & my food order being delivered; 2) didn't know how to ck on my Seamless order's status; 3) doesn't speak English well & yet, 4)was totally arguing & bitchy!
- Y SDecember 31, 2017Food is good. Be careful that they already include the tips in your check and they try to hide it
- ZenFoodsterJanuary 27, 2016To Owner: hire employees who know WTF they're doing & don't spend 10 min arguing instead of checking on whereabouts of a 1.5 HOUR delayed delivery! Lost a loyal customer & never ordering here again!
