- Sara TaylorSeptember 9, 2017We came here for our wedding dinner and loved siting upstairs! Everything we had was amazing and they were so accommodating of our guests with dietary restrictions. Definitely recommend the cocktails!
- Johnnie SkywalkingOctober 17, 2015Every dish is visually entertaining. Using lots of Japanese ingredients and flavors to make each dish unique and flavorful. You would specially enjoy that with Maitake one in each bite.
- Lindsay EyinkJune 16, 2017Incredible food. Incredible staff. It's the most perfect California foodie place to be. Sustainable, fresh, innovative, relaxed and excellent. I have come here every trip to SF since moving away. 100%Upvoted Feb 28
- Fantastic Asian leaning new American from the State Bird team, now with a Michelin star but still low key. Loved the lamb tartare, rabbit cavatelli, squid ink pasta, and clams. Really, everything.
- Vivian RamirezJanuary 20, 2020The food, the ambiance, the service were all lovely. I reserved the mezzanine for a family style dinner and the food was a great adventure all evening. Cocktails 👌🏼. Attention to detail throughout.
- emily chenJanuary 10, 2017Basically come here for the amazing but gout inducing food. The foie gras, caviar, bone marrow dumplings, and octopus are stellar. Cocktail program is amazing -wines are very pricey. Decor 💯
- BommyDecember 25, 2018Beautiful space, food, and service. Make reservations. Try a number of dishes and end with a shot of peanut milk.
- Chris H.March 19, 2016The food here is as good as State Bird. Try the dates in crema and the pig ears. Both are awesome.
- I think the food, service, and atmosphere are better than at sister restaurant State Bird next door.
- Shirley LiuMarch 27, 2015Awesome restaurant by the State Bird people. Loved my Sunny Jin cocktail and a few of my fave dishes were the pig fries (with cauliflower salad), buttered clams, and mushroom kale salad.
- Maya ByrneJanuary 17, 2019The smoked lamb pastrami is what dreams are made of. Black pepper cavatelli was hot and delicious as well. Really can’t go wrong with anything!
- EiMa AAugust 27, 2015Comfortable ambience with a focus on amazing food and top-notch service!! Loved EVERY SINGLE bite including the lamb merguez, pig fries & OMG the black butter balsamic roasted figs!!!
- Rafi RomeroApril 17, 2016The "choose your own adventure" menu is BS. it's just a prix fixe. I was expecting a maze of choices much like a CYOA novel. by their definition, any menu with choices is a "choose your own adventure"
- Yve FontileaJuly 23, 2015Everything was superb, especially the pig fries. The crunch of the raw cauliflower and fried pig ear are balanced by plenty of herbs and a fish sauce vinaigrette that's as addicting as crack.
- Jon B.September 3, 2017Fun family style menu, with a selection of seasonal additions to also consider. Great cocktails, and excellent service to boot.
- Johnnie SkywalkingJuly 23, 2015Each portion is not that big so you can order and experience many different dishes. Merguez was extremely good among others.
- O LOctober 23, 2019Best dinner I’ve had in SF. The duck is fantastic. But TBH everything is. The ordering system is excellent.
- Agatha YuJanuary 12, 2015Heavily Asian inspired family sharing menu. Their crab 'stir fry' is great (crab stock reduced for three days), but state bird is still a much more enjoyable culinary experience.
- Kit CarrauNovember 16, 2019My favorite restaurant in SF. Incredible service, food, atmosphere. Cannot wait to go back. The duck is sublime 👌
- Jonathan EatherlyFebruary 20, 2015The pig fries, lamb merguez, and kiwi salad are perfect dishes. Also you must get the cheese cake ice cream.
- Toland HonApril 16, 2015Unlike their sister restaurant next door (State Bird Provisions), The Progress has a full bar. You can also order most of the dishes at the bar if you can't get a reservation/table.
- Katie ExtonJune 25, 2016Fantastic cocktails, all the food we had was great, adored the curried peas dish. Amazing design. Big thumbs up
- Natalie KMarch 7, 2019Recommend ~6 small dishes & one large dish to share between 4 people. Everything is SO good.
- Marissa CNovember 12, 2018Amazing food and cocktails, relaxed ambiance. Menu let’s you try lots of dishes and share with a group. Don’t miss the Pity the Fool 🍹
- Frances 미라March 29, 2015Must try the pig fries with shaved cauliflower. A well thought out dish with amazing flavors and textures.
- Danielle DavisFebruary 14, 2016Phenomenal service and incredible eats. Best octopus dish I've ever had (saying a lot!) -- my new favorite SF restaurant !! Go here!!! Go here!!!
- Jessa OrmeOctober 5, 2015Everything! Anything with the anchovy is delightful and the croquettes with corn, tomatoes and herbs is fresh and comforting all at once. Scrumptious.
- Jason FryMarch 21, 2016Great food and attentive service ... but portions are skimpy for the steep price you pay and the family-style format leaves you no way to adjust.
- Erin LaneApril 28, 2015Everything was amazing. Favorites: pig fries, roti, black bass, lamb merguez.
- If you can't get a reservation sit at the bar and order a la cart. Pair with a wonderful cocktail and enjoy the magical experience.
- KC StarDecember 20, 2014This space used to be a theater. The wood-plank wall is Original! The tables and the benches are made from 2 fallen trees in the Presidio!
- Fran SuMarch 23, 2016Try Sunny Jim if you like gin. Everything is tasty, especially enjoyed the raw halibut and octopus.
- Allison EspositoJanuary 6, 2015They take great care of vegetarians and will make you special veggie plates for most items on the menu. 🙌
- H KDecember 14, 2018If you are coming with a group, try to reserve the round table upstairs. The table is secluded and is awesome for a dozen or so people.
- Odile RoujolMarch 5, 2018Choose 5 additions to share and a platter ( duck !) with an Austrian white wine
- KC StarDecember 20, 2014There won't be a name at the door. This is how the front door looks. Amazing drinks and creative food served here!
- Melon LSeptember 28, 2015Hang at the bar for a more laid back experience. It's delicious and the service is great - it's definitely NOT better than State Bird though.
- The roti is fantastic and fun to eat, and don’t miss the lamb tartare!
- Tayson HoangJanuary 25, 2015Walk in and sit at the bar and order a la carte. Better value than prix fixe and you don't need a reservation!
- Christophe LampertiMarch 12, 2018The squid ink pasta, lentil salad with foie gras and rib eye were excellent.
- Jenny L.April 13, 2015The entire meal was amazing. Don't think you can go wrong with any option on the menu.
- Raymond DijkxhoornSeptember 15, 2015Very nice place. Sister restaurant to State Bird. Highly recommend
- Jim PrattMarch 25, 2016Service was great, especially the bartenders. The pig ears and rote were outstanding. Double thumbs up.
- Jason RApril 8, 2015Order everything on the menu. Do not feel ashamed about this. (Btw the bar has full food service)
- Frances JamesDecember 12, 2015Same people as State Bird Provisions- hard to get a reservation but you can also walk into the bar area
