- Melissa ChaiJanuary 3, 2016My favorite veggie dish of all time: sautéed pea shoots with garlic. Both my parents are from Szechuan, China and the Dan Dan noodles and dumplings in chili oil were some of the best I've had
- AmberOctober 27, 2016A transplant from Philly, Han Dynasty is still the best Szechuan I've found. Their heat scale has gotten somewhat toned down over the years, but everything else has stayed the same - awesome.
- StayNYC RentalsOctober 17, 2018Sichuan food can be enjoyed very affordably with a large group at this Philly import. The round table in the back seats eight to 12 people for set tasting menus starting at just $25 per person.
- Order the pork dumplings in chili oil along with scallion pancakes. The dry pepper style fish is delicious so is the garlic sauce style chicken. Don't forget to order Dan Dan noodles.
- Morgan MorrealeJanuary 26, 2017If you want to have a good time, get the Dan Dan noodles and the wontons in chili oil. If you can't handle too much spiciness, you can easily request to change the spice level number
- They'll text you when your table is ready so don't be discouraged by a wait. Turnover is pretty quick too. Just grab a drink nearby and dream about impending dan dan noodles.
- Will SchollApril 6, 2016The hype is real: Dan Dan Noodles are delicious and have an amazing umami property. The Cumin Lamb has a great texture and flavor with just the right amount of heat.
- JwowJuly 8, 2014The dan dan noodles are not to be missed! Other favorites are chicken wings, salt and pepper scallops and green beans. Insider tip: if you go with 8 or more people, opt to do the tasting menu!
- Dan Dan noodles, spicy dry chicken wings, cumin lamb, double cooked pork and some veggies and white rice to balance it all out. Reservations only for parties of 8 or more.
- Jamie LiuAugust 24, 2014One thing I learned about Han Dynasty is that everything comes in big portion so be sure to share your food! Definitely get dumplings in chili oil. It's delicious. Dan dan noodles are ok.
- Like A Local GuideFebruary 3, 2015Han Dynasty serves real deal Chinese Szechuan cuisine, and it is definitely worth the wait. If you like your food spicy, they prepare dishes at a 1-10 spice level to your taste. Read more
- Connie ChiuAugust 23, 2014Beef tripe in chili oil, dan dan mien, and the double cooked pork belly! Gets packed during peak hours so go early. Also pick up a milk tea to counter the intense spicy!
- Cole KennedyOctober 8, 2019Wondering about wontons vs. dumplings? Personally, I prefer the softer, more flat and slipper dumplings to the denser, more pebble-like wontons, pictured here.
- The dan dan noodles and dry pepper chicken wings never fail. Add on a protein in chili sauce (shui zhu rou) and double cooked pork, and you're set for a good meal.
- Christian DickmannApril 21, 2015Spicy cucumbers and Dan Dan noodles made a great appetizer combo. Dry pepper chicken, kung pao chicken, garlic beef was a medley of wonderful tastes, from mild to spicy. Friendly staff, amazing place.
- Lizzy SaxeJuly 25, 2016Man, I have never had a disappointing meal here. The Dan Dan noodles are incredible, but so are the cold mung bean ones. The eggplant is beautiful, and so is the mapo tofu. You can't go wrong.
- AmateurConciergeFebruary 7, 2015Obviously get the dan Dan noodles, but don't sleep on the dry spicy chicken (wings or a plate) and the spicy cucumbers. Garlic shrimp is another great addition, but skip the beef in hot sauce
- Everything here is so good! Even if you don't like spicy foods they will adjust the level and make things more or less spicy. Order the Don Don noodles and the wontons in chilli seed oil.
- Bustling restaurant- always a long wait but great food. "If" we get in we order the Dan Dan noodles, a couple of entrees and some beer to wash it down. Now, that is the start of a great night.
- Samiha KhanAugust 15, 2015If you aren't getting the dan dan noodles, what are you doing here? They have different levels of spiciness for the noodles which can be fun to experiment with.
- HeenaAugust 19, 2014Spicy cucumber, cold noodles with chili oil and cumin style tofu were favorites! Tofu hot sauce style great. Tofu garlic sauce style good also if you want less spicy. Non-veg:heard cumin lamb is great

- Shawn JSeptember 10, 2013I've been trying to find a Sichuan place in NYC as good as Han since I first had it in Philly three years ago. Now I don't have to! Dan Dan Noodles, Cumin Lamb, and Garlic Eggplant are all amazing.
- Dan ValenSeptember 1, 2013Spice levels are listed in red to the right of each dish. 7 and above leaves your mouth numb (in a good way). Try the dan dan noodles, pork belly, and crispy cucumber appetizers and go from there.
- Probably the best Chinese in the East Village. Unassuming and affordable. Go with a group so you can taste more stuff. If you like Mala (Chinese peppercorn) this is your place!
- Nate FolkertNovember 15, 2015crispy rice style shrimp in sweet and sour sauce with bamboo shoots, black mushrooms, and wood ear mushrooms, served on crispy rice
- meghan gillMarch 17, 2015All these other tips ain't lying. Dumplings in chili oil. Dan Dan. Spicy cucumber. Go halves-ies on everything with a friend and you'll be full (and in heaven) for 24 hours.
- Order the dan dan noodles. They are cooked to perfection (literally the best noodles I have ever tasted), topped in chili oil sauce with minced pork and scallions. Super spicy but worth it.
- Sandra RubinchikAugust 12, 2014Don't be a hero; you probably wanna stay under 6 on the spice meter. Make sure to pair spicy dishes with mild ones, and definitely don't skip the wontons or dumplings in chili oil. Or else.
- Lisa YuSeptember 4, 2013The dandan noodles are delicious and the portion size is enough to make you feel full. We loved the twice cooked pork which was crispy and flavorful and actually more pork than leek (surprise!)

- William NelliganAugust 10, 2014The tea at the table functions as a kind of salve for the forthcoming spice. Don't let that discourage you, though - get something Sichuan, and commiserate with your fellow diners about the heat.
- Lizzy SaxeNovember 30, 2016The dan dan noodles are great but don't sleep on the rest of the menu. It's hard to go wrong. Wontons in chili oil are a must-have, and so are the eggplant and mapo tofu.
- Allen YangAugust 7, 2014Best Sichuan food in the city right now. Don't miss the spicy cucumbers, dry pepper fish, or double cooked pork belly. Takeout is a good option to avoid the line.

- Ms HeleneFebruary 15, 2016Fish in chili oil with cabbage, Kung Pao shrimp $19, crispy cucumber and Dan Dan noodles were the best dishes ordered. Skip the dry pepper beef and standard fried dumplings.
- Phil TorontoNovember 3, 2013The Dry Pepper Chicken is fantastic. Dry, flavorful and a kick in the pants on the spicy scale. Watch out for the peppers... they'll get ya.
- Russell HirschornAugust 27, 2016Some great sz food. Cucumbers, dan dan noodles and dumplings were awesome. The main dish we had was good but have had much better in flushing.
- Sean KizyJanuary 12, 2014Some of the friendliest service and great food at good pieces. Hell yeah! Dan Dan noodles, wontons in chili oil and wings were damn good. Overall not as spicy as I anticipated.
- Michelle CheungOctober 29, 2013I prefer this place to Grand Sichuan. The cold pork belly appetizer is my favorite. I didn't really like the crispy rice entree so much but that was the only miss of the night. It didn't disappoint.
