- EaterJanuary 28, 2013Owners Klaus and Albert Rainer lead service that's warm as goulash, and potentially clunky menu items like weiner shnitzel and strudel are nuanced and delicious. [Eater 38 Member]
- DaveSeptember 22, 2015Their Pilsner is probably my favorite, and it goes well with whatever high-cholesterol deliciousness they cook up
- Iryna MykhailenkoMarch 27, 2019Tasty food, a bit too much fat, but it is expected from the Austrian place. Lively, to the point of noisy, but still great
- Holger LüdorfJanuary 14, 2012Beautiful interior (looks authentic), good service and food quality & beer selection are great, too. Only issue: The food selection was a bit limited: No sausages, Obatzda or Leberkaes on the menue.
- Ellen BuntinxJuly 17, 2015Very tasty food, good atmosphere and extremely passionate and friendly entrepreneurs. We went there two days in a row. Two days of delicious plates!
- Tom McGhanAugust 12, 2013Wiener Schnitzel, Short Rib and Chicken & Dumplings are all amazing. Careful with the boots. Don't screw around with yours or your neighbor's. Even just a crack will run you the $50 broken boot fee.
- Graham SiegelAugust 20, 2017Beef goulash and apple strudel are great. Goulash is large enough to share. Don't forget to try the draft beers!
- Christopher KennedyJuly 15, 2015Warm atmosphere, generous portions and delicious food and drinks. Definitely get the apfelstrudel to finish off your meal!
- The Bold ItalicJune 16, 2011Drink up! Leopold's offers 1/2 liter & liter glasses, two-liter boots, and steins in three and five-liter sizes! Try the Crispy Pig Trotters appetizer and save room for apfelstrudel. Read more
- Adam SchofieldAugust 30, 2015The Roasted Chicken Breast “Jager Art” is super tasty. The mushroom sauce is so good - I'd bathe in it.
- The wiener Schnitzel, which is made from pork but is so tender I thought it was calbsfleisch! (baby veal) They say their prep is a secret...top w/several Spatens! Owner claims German pretzels to come!
- Liliana ZermenoSeptember 12, 2011Great food! The Wiener Schnitzel was amazing and my beef ribs to die for! Great atmosphere, great service. Defiantly coming back for more beer and schnitzel.
- Nina YasavulJanuary 14, 2020Arugula salad, side pretzel, wiener schnitzel, short rib was excellent👌🏻very good beer too..
- Stephen SaribalisNovember 27, 2016Love this place! Great for something different and fun environment. Curry fries!
- Monica ZarateSeptember 8, 2015Really amazing lunch! The curry fries and steak and eggs were perfect! Great ambiance and service
- V CMarch 10, 2013Come early to avoid lines. Has an Oktoberfest atmosphere, great for ppl who love beer, sausages and communal eating. Food was ok. Overall, slightly overrated but fun place.
- Santiago Suarez OrdoñezJanuary 5, 2014All the food here is awesome! It's loud, though, so don't expect to have a deep conversation while driving from your boot glass
- The food is nice sober but ghetto crazy awesome after a few drinks. Be sure to order a few dishes (crispy flat bread duhh) and share, share, share.
- Michelle McCabeJune 25, 2011The broth in the chicken soup is some of the best I have ever had and the Wiener Schnitzel so tender and delicious...highly recommend both!
- Coralie SabinSeptember 7, 2015I loved the atmosphere and the food was good. Not my favorite German place in San Francisco.
- Christophe LampertiApril 26, 2018The Jägerschnitzel (breaded pork) with Spätzle (pasta) is quite good.
- J JohnJuly 27, 2018Schnitzel was bland & underwhelming. Jaeger sauce way too fatty, spaetzle was dry. Short ribs were great so were the homemade sausage & sauerkraut. Apple strudel was fresh and delicious. Service C-
- Katie MuiAugust 13, 2014I haven't gotten it down to a science yet, but the your best bet for a 15 minute or less wait is 6:15PM on a weekend.
- Vincent BartoliApril 27, 2013I had the Jaeger Art. It was delicious. Next time I shall try the Spaetzle.
- Jessica ChanApril 10, 2012obviously the wiener schnitzel.... but i also have tried the chicken and its just as amazing!
- Afro lynneMay 27, 2018Friendly service but it’s on the pricey side. Portion are much smaller than the usual German restaurants I am used to.
- Gregor BeckOctober 30, 2011Great beer (Stiegl). Food is good (schnitzel and Linzer Torte) but not 100% authentic austrian.
- Steven MatthewsJuly 25, 2015It's like eating in the beer haus of a delightful Austrian stereotype. Das boot.
- RenoMarch 14, 2012Bit of a Marina frat house spoils the atmosphere for me, the Austrian food is not extensive nor creative. Decorated authentically but I much prefer Suppenkuche, Walzwerk or Schmidt's.
- Tom McGhanAugust 12, 2013Hey you. Yeah you. The one quoting Beerfest. We get it. You can stop annoying the staff with the same jokes they've heard 3,000 times before.
- Let the tenders pick your beer. They will steer you right. Thanks Matt!
- Katie PatersonMay 30, 2013Try the Paprika Beef Goulash w/butter spatzle - Last dinner with my Parents before they go home ;(
