- T RodAugust 26, 2015The wings are delicious, lots of flavor.Get a beer flight. Good pulled pork sandwich, very smokey. Bread pudding was big enough for two, get it with a scoop of ice cream. The cheesecake was great too.
- Sixtus66 SaintJuly 30, 2014Had the Atlantic salmon and crab cake. A bit pricy, but it's to be expected eating right in the revolutionary village. All in all a good experience with good food and even better service.
- Jen CloonanJune 6, 2014If you want to experience authentic colonial dining, any of the taverns in Colonial Williamsburg will work. Chownings is a good one - good food and atmosphere.
- MattJanuary 5, 2015Such a fun experience, great atmosphere. The brunswick stew was excellent. Really liked sitting in the candlelight upstairs. They take reservations.
- Liebotschaner Cream Ale, cold, smooth and delicious! Drink two, like they did in the Olde Days!
- In Williamsburg, awesome place and everyone in character. ..Old Stitch beer is delicious with corn chowder and salads
- Brittany StroudSeptember 4, 2012The braised short rib sandwich, au jus, and garlic mashed potatoes was amazing! Don't pass up the root beer. It's the best I've ever had.
- Brittany StroudSeptember 4, 2012Got the bbq because of the reviews and was not impressed at all :( Pimms drink with cucumber was really good, welsh rarebit was really good with the side ham but definitely order it deconstructed.
- Tara WAugust 20, 2016CROWDED. We waited 15 minutes to be told they might have a table for us. When we were finally seated at the bar, we waited another 20 minutes until we finally left.... UNDER STAFFED AND RUDE SERVICE
- Amy KennedyAugust 7, 2013Witch's Revenge - dark and light rum, apricot brandy, and pineapple juice. Nice, not too strong or sweet
- Jill RobinsonAugust 25, 2013All the food is great! Especially the pulled pork sandwich. Try the homemade root beer too!
- Kelly BolyardFebruary 11, 2012The Welsh Rarebit should only be ordered if you ate a big fan of mustard. The mustard overtakes the cheese flavor. The snippets rock.
- Denise DuttonDecember 13, 2011Spring for the travel mug; it's good for free refills of anything (including hot cider!) all year long!
- Caleb HaysAugust 18, 2014A sippet is a piece of toast; "rarebit" is cheese and beer sauce. No rodents.
- Marshall GriffissApril 29, 2014I would not purchase the Butchers Block. Not worth the money. You get 3 pieces of 4 types of meat and 1 piece of hard bread. It would at most be a ok appetizer. The sandwiches were really good.
- Todd A WilliamsMay 28, 2015Craft beers. We went for lunch and dinner both were very good. Outside seating for lunch overlooking the courthouse grounds just lovely. Try the adult root beer float as dessert awesome
- S. NewlandApril 20, 2011Skip past the abnormally long waitlist for inside dining , and instead head out back for dining ala' cart. That line moves fast and food is exactly the same as inside.
- Marc BaskinApril 11, 2011There's a beer they make in town here that they don't sell anywhere else in the world
- Stop by the garden bar in the back for a quick beer during the day:)
- Vin DOctober 26, 2010Get here fast for a cold one, if not you will be waiting to enter due to the large tourist groups.
- Liza PSeptember 16, 2011Not impressed buy the menu. Ordered a turkey sandwich and it looked like airplane food. Get the bbq sandwich if you must eat here. Beer was cold but they didn't have the one I wanted.
- Jamie Brandon JrJune 5, 2012DON'T EAT HERE!!!! Way overpriced and BAD food. The sandwiches were like something you would get from a vending machine. This place is an embarrassment to the town!!!
- Lisa LowryJuly 31, 2013Do not get French dip. The meat tasted like old lunchmeat and the onions were barely cooked (menu said caramelized)
