- Very nice place with authentic atmosphere. Do not be discouraged by the generally unpleasant waiters as they are part of the experience! The best time to come is slightly after 19:00.
- If you wanna feel like Hemingway, come here. This place looks as it came out from Spanish Civil War. You can ask Manzanilla only, and no pictures or tips are allowed. Full story: http://goo.gl/mJ1RSj
- Martin JordanJune 29, 2018Great selection of sherry wines here. Create your own little tasting menu and also add some tapas. Ernest Hemingway did the same during the civil war.
- Xx XxNovember 4, 2018The best hidden bar. Walk in and order sherry at the bar and some snacks— chorizo, manchego and olives. No photos, no tipping and no spitting.
- Brian PundykeSeptember 28, 2018It's a no frills sherry bar. But good sherry, well chilled. You can get simple nibbles, olives, cheese etc. But nothing other than sherry. Manzanilla, fino, amontillado, oloroso etc. Great atmosphere
- Yana TMay 1, 2016Feels like inside one of Perez-Reverte's books: dusty barrels of manzanilla, rustic walls, silent, a bit tired bartenders, cat sleeping on a shelve. And above all of these dark intense taste of sherry
- Spotted by Locals - city guides by localsApril 23, 2015"There are 5 types of sherry, but I prefer the lighter manzanilla. The “media botella”, which costs € 6 or € 7 (depending on the type of sherry), gives about 6 small glass fulls." Read more
- Elin ReevesOctober 7, 2019Atmospheric bar (but photos are banned). There are 5 sherries and a small list of tapas/raciones. Gets busy soon after opening so get there early!
- Gorkem OzDecember 7, 2015Incredible ambience, no music, you get that old wood smell once you step inside. I had half a bottle myself and loved it. Sorry about taking a photo:)
- MarinaMay 13, 2017Awersome place. 5 types of sherry, no photos, no tips, bill written in chalk on the bar. Must do
- Mish and RobJune 7, 2014Just wonderful! Cozy, quiet, beautiful and reasonably priced. No wine or other drinks - just sherry. Also, THERE'S A CAT... AND A DOG!
- Eugene FridmanMay 15, 2017An incredibly atmospheric jerez (sherry) bar, that Hemingway used to come to. If you want a dry jerez go for the fino, for something less dry - oloroso.
- Carlee PotterDecember 12, 2014Go here if you like old liquor bottles covered in dust, and sherry. You're not supposed to take pictures; probably cos of health & safety laws, and the dust. I took a covert pic of el gato. Sshhh!
- Alexandre MunhozJuly 21, 2018It feels like while you are drinking your vermouth and eating some olives, Hemingway could step in at any moment with bunch of bullfighters.
- Bridget GaelJune 22, 2018Very cool Hemingway bar serving only sherry! Historic, with incredibly old bottles of liquors.
- Matt BroadheadOctober 7, 2019Five types of sherry, half a dozen tapas, no photography. We skipped dinner to stay there longer!
- Mel StevensOctober 5, 2015Wonderful place, stopped in time with the most artisan jerez! Great as an after dinner stop by
- Kate TurnerOctober 18, 2014Iconic sherry bar in central Madrid. Looks like it hasn't changed in years - and the prices haven't either. Very traditional. Just don't try to take any photos - they aren't allowed!
- @mecee (Christopher Calicott)September 17, 2018The people working here are more interested in creating some mystique about the place than making customers feel welcome. The sherry selection is fine. The meats a bit better.
- Katie BrownSeptember 23, 2018Tried each of the sherry options on menu (5 total). A couple were okay. Patrons seemed like regulars & were indifferent to unfriendly. Service was okay. Got yelled at for trying to take a photo.
- Don't take photos. Don't tip. Don't ask for anything other than sherry. But also don't ask for sweet sherry. Take care not to sit on the camouflage black cat when the light is low.
- Brian PundykeSeptember 28, 2018If you like real dry, chilled sherry. Manzanilla, fino, amontillado, oloroso. Dry and cold. But nothing else. You gotta go.
- Jonathan BrownDecember 14, 2010Awesome sherry bar - palo cortado with some salty nuts takes some beating
- Jasper van der ReeMay 11, 2014Doesn't sprak English, or won't try. No Explanation when unfamilliar with old (sherry) wines.
- Ozlem InceNovember 24, 2018Sherry/ brandy place, secret one. You should stop here for a drink. Very authentic.
- Victoria ZhiganovaApril 21, 2016
- Ksenia MikheevaSeptember 20, 2019
