- It's an old elementary school with everything you could want for an afternoon of entertainment. I highly recommend watching a movie here on a weekday followed by happy hour at one of the bars.Upvoted 2 weeks ago
- Jenn YFebruary 5, 2013Awesome restored school converted into a hotel/restaurant/bar/soaking pool/movie theatre. It's a trippy experience. We go for the $5 movies in the auditorium - plush vintage couches instead of seats.
- Nathan WrightMay 30, 2017This old elementary school has been turned into a restaurant, bar(s), movie theatre, hostel and soaking pool. There's so much to explore here. The Detention and Boiler Room bars are recommended!
- Enrique Gutiérrez ArzateNovember 30, 2018Great for entertainment: bars, bar games, movies, more bars, hotel rooms... Pay extra attention to decoration, it has a lot of meaning. Last renovation project made by Siegner and Company
- Brad MaceJanuary 26, 2013If the Courtyard Restaurant is full, or even if it is not full, hit the Cypress Room. And what the hell, come before 8pm and use the soaking pool first. News Flash!!!! They take dogs now!!!
- ErinJanuary 25, 2017Hotel rooms are spendy, but a neat experience - sleeping in school! I loved the big windows and the chalkboards were fun.
- Shirley LiuMay 24, 2015Cute place to catch a movie and have some beer or pizza in the theater and in one of the several bar/restaurant options
- Soaking pools are where it's at. You can bring beer into there if you'd like, just don't forget to grab your license back from the front desk.
- Rod SagerNovember 18, 2014Went here with out of town guests. Interesting place and you need to really explore it. There are half a dozen different bars in this place. Outstanding
- Nate WoodheadFebruary 15, 2015Cool idea overall. Rooms we're small but well decorated with cool light fixtures and furniture. The facilities and ambiance are what sells it
- Anna RossFebruary 26, 2016Though, the menu is a bit pricey for the food the atmosphere is great. Love the Boiler Room Bar, the veggie pizza is good!
- Great beer, good food, and a fantastic atmosphere. So much to see and do... and stamps to be had.
- amy DubinOctober 27, 2011Love the late evening hot tub (more like the size of a small pool) after 8pm it's 21+, and there are lots of things to eat and drink on-site. You can even stay over if you get too smashed!
- love this place! Great atmosphere! Great place to train and have a conference!
- DorenaOctober 10, 2013Soaking pool is awesome! If the restaurant is full head to the cypress room. Kids admitted until 10 pm.
- Dakota CiscoMarch 9, 2014Open book steak: extremely fatty cut. Bready saturated in butter and grease. Flavor far below great.
- Make sure you have enough time to stop by every little bar. This place is excellent.
- K12 IncJune 14, 2011Did you know? The Nickelodeon, the world’s first movie theater, opened in 1905. Kennedy Elementary School opened its doors ten years later in 1915, but wouldn’t become a movie theatre until 1997.
- Steve BilowDecember 29, 2013Cold, burnt fries and a stale bun on a $12 Bison Burger! Usually I love going here but this time the food was just plain bad. See my pic: would you EVER server those fries to a paying customer?!?!
- Neil SanchalaSeptember 6, 2011This school's been converted to a hotel, complete with bars and restaurants. At any McMenamin's, order a Rubinator -- half Ruby, half Terminator Stout.
- Joe LinMay 26, 2013Make sure you show up tardy for school otherwise you won't get to experience the cool bars...like us
- ELS Language CentersMay 7, 2012Just a few blocks from ELS, the Kennedy School features a restaurant, movie theater, soaking pool and hotel.
- Lauren KentJune 3, 2014Word to the wise: the soaking pool is usually closed for cleaning on the first Tuesday of each month.
- RomanNovember 2, 2012Read something of the steam punk genre while sitting in the Boiler Room bar... Awesomeness!
- Philip RagawayNovember 3, 2013Never ask for a mimosa and then when the waiter says it may take a while because he has to make it, then ask if they have to pick the oranges... You end up with cold coffee you never ordered..
- Kristina JacobsSeptember 21, 2011Favorite place in Portland. The layout of the different themed rooms is awesome!
- Coley DizeOctober 26, 2011Went with a colleague who used to live in Portland. Had a great meal and loved Detention really cool bar!
- Stef PinnigerApril 22, 2013Never, ever try to soak on a Sunday unless you are prepared to wait for an hour and be surrounded by little ones with floaties (and floaters probably).
- Bring cash if you're running late for a movie & not planning on eating, they'll let you cut the line & pay for the tickets so you can get seated right away.
- Flower Gerbera ⓋJanuary 3, 2011If you're vegan, this place sucks. There is one vegan item, besides tater tots and fries, and only two items that can be made vegan, a basic iceberg salad and a hummus place.
- MusicTherapy Services of PortlandNovember 9, 2011$3 movies on a couch with cajunized tots and beer delivered to you...dreamy!
