Great gourmet food made in house. Always busy during office lunch hours due to the close proximity of UCSF. Johnny (owner) is down to earth, caring, and potentially will play a song on his keyboard.
Some of the best sandwiches have been from this funny, little corner store. There's wi-fi, and say hey to David. He's great!

The traditional chicken broth and fantabulous popovers are worth making the trip. Make the lobster bisque a staple. Unfortunately, for me, the fun ended with the appetizers. Ive had better pricewise.

One of my favorite places in SF. Porcini Doughnuts are off the hook. Farm-to-Table restaurant. Seasonal ingredients from local places.
Bread, oysters, beets, porcini doughnuts, cauliflower, snow peas, ramps, spaghetti w/ goat cheese, salmon, steak, olive oil cake with strawberries. Oh forget it, just eat everything on the menu.
Get the porcini doughnuts for sure, skip the sardine chips.
unpretentious and pretty close to perfect: stumptown coffee, dynamo donuts, anthony's cookies, patio, wifi, bazillions of sandwiches under $10, reasonable hours, live music, beer, magazines, etc...
Laid-back vibe with a mix of work and social. do as you wish. no one will mind. you'll see folks on laptops (mostly Mac), biz meetings, people reading actual books and magazines, and just hanging out.
The 20th Street corridor may have exploded in 2013/14 but Atlas still thrives as a true neighborhood establishment. The back patio, the classic tuna sandwich, the reading rack; don’t pass this up.

Italian potstickers. Caesars salad. Crab pasta. I love it all! Sit outside under the heat lamps for a super romantic dinner, or just enjoy the people-watching. Great service, too.
Calamari is a great entree. The dinosaur vegetarian pasta is incredible. The cheesecake is TO DIE FOR. Awesome place and great music too 11/10

Beautiful hotel and comfortable accommodation. Immediate proximity to Union Square and the buzz of the city. Beware - internet connection is appalling and not suited to the business traveller.

Silent film comic Fatty Arbuckle's career crashed down when a party he hosted at this hotel resulted in the death of young actress Virginia Rappe in 1921. President Ford was also shot at here in 1975.
My favourite breakfast, lunch, coffee spot in SOMA. Great for eating, working, or making new friends when you are in town for business.
The breakfast burrito was so good I soiled myself. You should try it before you die. The burrito, not soiling yourself in public. Don't do that.
