Grant Shellen: While not the original Pismo Beach Splash, this second location within the SLO city limits serves up the same delicious clam chowder in a bread bowl with a much shorter line (usually).

Grant Shellen: This is the only location I've ever been to with giant, slightly undercooked chocolate-dipped chocolate chip (or white-chocolate macadamia nut) cookies. Get one. Now.

Grant Shellen: DO NOT order a "Bull Sweat."

Grant Shellen: Head to the back for cheap used CDs. There are several players to let you test them out. Good vinyl selection, too.

Grant Shellen: Great casual spot for really high-quality sandwiches, salads, wine, and more.

Grant Shellen: Get the anything.

Grant Shellen: It seems blasphemous to suggest this at a truly good Mexican spot, but the chicken nachos are really great.

Grant Shellen: Hang out with the beautifully ugly elephant seals, who are here year-round (though less so in Aug./Sept.)

Grant Shellen: Walk in the door. Say "Olallieberry pie." Fork over cash. Eat the pie.
