Frances James: Great for thick and thin crust. Greg's favorites are the chicken pesto thin crust (ask for extra pesto) and the Brass Monkey (off the menu - thick crust tomato/spinach with sausage)

Frances James: Delicious upscale food and solid cocktails

Frances James: Very inventive and tasty middle eastern european-inspired food. Excellent crusty SF bread (from the associated Tartine bakery)

Frances James: Yum yummy yum mexican food. Flawless execution, great cocktails from their mezcal bar. Greg's favorite carnitas in the city. Be prepared to WAIT (no reservations)

Frances James: The big sister restaurant of Nopalito- more upscale, just as delicious. Brunch is great. Reservations are tough - walk in if you're okay with a bar seat/communal table, or go at an odd hour.

Frances James: Delicious italian - upscale but not as expensive as the fancier Perbacco next door (we think Barbacco's food is better, though). Great wines too. Try the brussels sprouts!

Frances James: More than just bowling, Mission Bowling has one of the best burgers in the city and great cocktails

Frances James: Cosy and delicious Izakaya over in Berkeley. The raw chicken sounds scary but it's delicious. As are all the grilled meats and veggies

Frances James: Excellent vietnamese in a cute friendly space. Greg's favorite is the roasted pork bun, and I love the banana blossom salad

Frances James: Great cocktails and finger food (literally- they don't have silverware)

Frances James: Head all the way to the bar in the back to order off the "real" cocktail menu

Frances James: Pretty good, although service can be hit-or-miss. Open all day, so good if you're wanting a snack or drink in the middle of the day near Embarcadero

Frances James: Spanish gin bar! Great view of the water and people watching. Solid drinks and tapas.

Frances James: Eclectic decor, pretty good food and drinks. Try the avocado/trout toast if you're there for brunch

Frances James: Excellent. Some of the best food in the city. American cuisine done Dim Sum style. Walk up at 5pm with only 2 of you and you might get a seat at the bar.

Frances James: Delicious - another one you should walk into with just one other person. Try the porcini donuts and the sardine chips

Frances James: Awesome, creative putt putt course. Decent drinks and pretty good food

Frances James: Really good upscale Thai - with great cocktails. Try the Mushroom Hor Mok Terrine

Frances James: One of our favorite Japanese restaurants in the city. Sounds weird but they have great homemade tofu. Sushi is also creative and well-executed. Takes rezzies (rare for a sushi place around here)

Frances James: Great food and drinks at this gem in FiDi. Heard they have a good happy hour

Frances James: EXCELLENT thin crust pizza and appetizers. No reservations so put your name in and wander the mission. If they have the roasted cauliflower appetizer, get it and prepare to drool.

Frances James: Excellent execution every time at this beautiful new American restaurant and bar. Great for dinner or brunch.

Frances James: Good for big groups (with no rezzies) because you can usually find a big table to share. Food and beer are solid. Has cocktails too but stick to basics

Frances James: Tea leaf salad to die for. Nom nom nom. There's supposedly a new location in the mission but I can't find it on 4sq (Valencia & Duboce)

Frances James: Tiny hidden spot in N Beach - great cocktails and food. Good for brunch

Frances James: Super authentic Mexican, popular for weekend lunch (the Birria is meat heaven)

Frances James: Tasty pastries and coffee. The "rebel within" is a soft-boiled egg inside a scone. !!!

Frances James: Chris Costentino's new spot - expect lots of unique meat cuts. There's also plenty for pescetarians, and the veggie dishes are delicious (though maybe on the meat-y side).

Frances James: Delicate plates, solid cocktails. Modern ambiance, one of the best patios in the city. Not cheap.

Frances James: British-esque pub - great for brunch or dinner. Marlowe burger is excellent

Frances James: Same people as State Bird Provisions- hard to get a reservation but you can also walk into the bar area
