MBTA Commuter Rail double decker cars with a curved stairway have electrical outlets. Straight stairs means wifi is available. No cars have both outlets and wifi.
Acela Express is late alot. If it's departure time is close to the mbta commuter rail departure time, take the mbta. They'll arrive in Boston at the same time and it's 7.75 vs $14-$37
Cafe La France is one of the best sandwich shoppes around, train station or no train station - staff is amazing, and so friendly, ingredients are locally sourced, the whole place is like an oasis.
If you are traveling on Saturday or Sunday, you can park at the state house up the street and walk down the hill to the station. Skip mall, garage, and street parking!
There's a great view of the Rhode Islandstate capitol just as you're leaving the station on your way north to Boston. It's off the left side of the train. Get your cameras ready!
So if you buy your tickets for the MBTA Commuter Rail at Cafe La France it's cash only however if you download the MBTA app you can pay with your credit card!
Awesome old school flap display by Solari is still hanging on in the rotunda, transmitting the calming sound of train status updates... except when the update is that your train is late(r)
I've talked to several locals who had no idea there was a parkingstructure. Enter at the corner of Park Row and Finance Way, but be prepared. It's pricey!
What does this place have against using the new fangled financial advancement known as credit cards?! Also, the sticky buns at Cafe La France are quite scrumptious. Ask to have it heated, if possible
If you don't like the urine smell in the men's room or the graffiti on the mirror..... You'll LOVE the pubic hair on TOP of the urinals..... How did it get there???
MBTA had a new app where you can pay with your card and show them that you paid by going to " my tickets" if heading to Boston this feature is not available till end of November... No more waiting
This is the third train station for Providence. The first one burned down in 1896 from a fire, and the second was replaced by a redevelopment project in 1986. Third time's a charm!
Don't plan on being able to park at the train station after the morning rush-hour. There is a garage onsite and a lot nearby, both are normally full and expensive. Better off cabbing or parking @mall
