The trains to Grand Central arriving on Track 5 board on both sides. Look for the Express trains...two stops and your home. They are older trains but you are on them for a shorter time.

The 8:16 AM to GCT is usually one of the brand new trains -- catch it if you can. 8 cars so plenty of seats, better lit, quieter and softer ride, much better seats.

Pedestrian bridge from garage is on fourth floor, so don't rush to park in the first spot you find.

Make sure to buy food before coming here. Subway, Dunkin Donuts, a little store that sells lotto, chips and magazines (2nd floor), and a liquor store on the 1st floor are your options here. Enjoy!

Skip the long lines at Dunkin Donuts and support the local coffee shop just outside the lobby on the north side. Coffee's just as good and the sandwiches are made fresh... Yum.

Buy your ticket on the platform or make sure your cell has a battery charge to show your e-ticket. The onboard convenience fee is about $6!!! If you have the app you may be able to buy onboard.

Tip: when fixing the escalators in the up direction turn the escalator in the down direction OFF. All working escalators are in the down direction. Doesn't help when I want to go UP

The Amtrak ticket counter is behind the Dunkin Donuts. There are no red caps here so have a friend who can help you get into the train if you need assistance.

Ladies: be prepared, there are NO hooks on the doors in the restroom and barely enough space to shut the door if you have luggage. If you're traveling with a friend, ask them to hold your bags.

Best advice is buy your ticket before you get on the train. The on-board prices are no joke.

You better buy ur tickets in advance! Few side machines and it is almost the double of the regular price in the train.

Do NOT park here - unless you're looking to kill time. It amazes me there's only 1 cashier on during rush hour.

If you're going north, stand on the platform that has access to both tracks 2 and 4. That way you won't miss your train when they keep switching which track it's coming in on.

If going south during the evening rush, go on track 3 all the way up to the front of the train. More likely to get a seat that way.
