Even if you aren't catching a train or arriving off of one, this is a cool place to check out if you're in the area. The building and the grounds around it are really quite beautiful.

At the counter in the newsstand neat Gate 5 is a fantastic selection of enamel pins. $7 each. Not bad quality.

Go online or call ahead 2c if your train has an observatory car when booking your first train! Love this about train rides!

Station is pretty easy to navigate, which is nice. Signage is easy to see and posted frequently, so I knew exactly where to go.

Always take the #14 (Coast Starlight). 2 stories, dining, arcade, observation car, secret passageways...

Even if you have an eTicket, you should check in at the desk to the left when you walk into the station.

Very cool rail station. It is pretty much left in original design. Very quaint rail station that is a throwback to years ago.

They often show train movies like Polar Express. Very sweet. Bring a picnic and a split of champagne and enjoy or head to the dining car and socialize

It is worth the business class upgrade if you are not counting pennies, the experience is much nicer.

The train ride from Portland and Seattle (or Spokane) is always relaxing. Grab a Polish sausage at the concession stand, well worth the $3.75. Yum!!

The main terminal can be pretty crowded, worth the upgrade to business to get access to the lounge. Nothing special but makes the trip a lot nicer.

If you have a business class ticket, make sure to go to the sign "business class check-in" and not the counter by "to trains" where regular check in takes place

The lineup forms around ~45 minutes prior to scheduled departure. Aim to arrive at T-50 and be first in line.

Don't stand in the long line for seating assignments, if you are last to board you get better seats! Set down, relax and wait :-)

The food station has random meals before 5pm, but don't get the chicken teriyaki. I have my doubts that it's even actual chicken.

Often the food on the train is better than the food at the kiosk (my veggies had mould on them, whereas train diner soup was very acceptable)
