This museum was built around the former Lorraine Motel where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated on April 4th 1968. Construction of the museum began in 1987 and opened in 1991.

Though no longer the destination it was in the 70s and 80s, Overton Square still has a few great restaurants. Loeb Properties plans to revitalize the area with a grocery store and garage.
It's amazing! Well organized tour and kind staff. Everyone gets a iPad for a personal tour. It's only a pity that you're not allowed upstairs.
Home of Elvis Presley, it was opened to the public as a museum on June 7th 1982. Second to the White House, this is the most visited private home in the United States at 600,000 visitors a year.
Stick to the House Tour, Car Exhibit and the Lisa Marie Plane Exhibit. All the other exhibits are just attempts to suck you into multiple Gift Shops
Not your average fancy museum but it is very rich in history. Contrary to the website, it is open year-round. Best time to visit is February through March when they offer new exhibits & artifacts.
The museum may look underwhelming from the outside, but the tour was incredibly interactive and informative. Don't let the bigger museums in Memphis overshadow this gem.
