Even if you're not a fan of Lyndon B. Johnson, taking the guided LBJ tour will make a history lover out of you, complete with a scale model of the Oval Office.
Must do stop for Austinites and highly recommend for tourists. Al about LBJ but usually some cool temporary exhibit. Don't be afraid to learn something!

Military museum is great for taking tours and doing deep studies of historical events, battles, heroes, leaders, etc. Tours can be somewhat overwhelming for little kids.
Great collection of military artifacts. A must visit for those in the Austin area.
Camp Mabry's little-known museum features dozens of tanks, military vehicles, weapons and much more that highlight Texas' involvement in military engagements. Admission to the museum is free.
