My family is from Hunan. This is hands down the most authentic Hunan restaurant I've ever come across in Manhattan. Service was really good too! Be sure to get the REAL Hunan food, not Szechuan!!!

If you look for authentic Chinese in midtown east, I recommend Hunan manor & cafe china. Hunan food is also known for spicy, but not Sichuan food. We got crab & lobster here!!

Best general tso tofu I have every had, yummy and fried but still soft on the inside, exactly as it should be. Plus they catered to my very specific veggie lo mein request. So impressed by this place
Shrimp Shumai was a decent appetizer, but the Fire Wok was unreal. Lobster tail, giant shrimp, scallops, and Thai curry with just the right spice. Amazeballs.
Try the Sambai Delight. If you like spice ask for extra on the side because their spice isn't enough.

If you like spicy, get the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup. Closest thing to the spicy flavors of Sichuan that I've had outside of Sichuan. It'll get your tongue tingling.
If Joe's, across the street, is packed then come here. Get the double sauteed pork. Spicy, crispy and delicious. String beans are good too!
When I walk into the restaurant and smell the Sichuan peppercorns, I want to cry because it smells like my second home.
The dumplings are the BEST EVER. I live in Queens and I drive all the way out here for them. Get extra sauce; TRUST ME.

Try something different and authentic here, you won't regret it. I recommend the fish and pickled cabbage soup, diced lotus root in black bean sauce, cumin lamb and the chongqing chicken

Solid fried rice and great hot & sour soup. Soup dumplings will satisfy a craving but I prefer Joe Shanghai.
