Easy to get to off the 6 (20 min from Grand Central) and entirely worth the trip. Beautiful building and timely special exhibits like Hurricane Sandy photography and City as Canvas. Shop is cool too.

Hip and edgy independent book store with well-selected assortment of used books in remarkably good condition. Particularly strong in the art and film genres. I highly recommend visiting Mast.

Small but pretty museum that's always changing its art. It always funky and new stuff from Latino and Afro Caribbean artists. It's always representing the urban part of the city.

cheapest beer = genesee/cream ale/bud = $3 12oz. can. Good dive bar totally covered in graffiti. Somethin a bit “off” about it though
A fun, inexpensive, and considerably less crowded alternative to 169 Bar. The bartenders are friendly, the cocktails are great, and there's complimentary popcorn!
Go for Power Breakfast. Still the best place in New York to start the day with the top in every industry.
American breakfast is worth it. Morning pastries worth the trip to the gym. Library laid back atmosphere. Service could be more attentive.
