Opened in 1899, this is Houston's first park. As one of the first desegregated public golf courses in the US, the park is now one of Houston's most historically significant public green spaces.

This is a very beautiful and exciting park for the whole family. Be sure to check out the flea market on Saturdays, and bring extra cash for parking and vendors that sell summer treats.
Beautiful park close to Minute Maid, BBVA, Toyota Ctr & Convention Ctr. Flea Market every 3rd Saturday, but it's small. Live music quite often. Cute restaurants on site. Lots of play space for kiddos.

One of the best dog parks in Houston! Great walking path, so much space for dogs to run & some halfway decent shade for summer days.
Great park with a lot of good dogs/owners. Downside is the people that bring their little dogs to the big dog side then get upset when the big dogs confuse them for toys.
I love this dog park! Well lit, separate play zone for the small dogs, large run, big pool, and wash area. Plus, people and pets are all very nice.

Great park with fun walking trails, but honestly my fav place is the dog park here, it's considerably the best in Houston & tons of dog owners bring their pups here. Always a great variety!
Great park for walking or jogging, but not during 'Prime Time', between 4 to 7pm or so, during the week..parking is a bitch! Use the bathroom at the clubhouse before walking..avoid portapotties!

Best park to run at in Houston in my opinion. The outdoor scenery is amazing here.

Pretty, spacious dog park with two dog-only pools in the big dog park. Wash stations available except the restrooms are across the street at another park.

Great park except the swimming water needs to be cycled through. It gets really dirty, which means your dog is nasty after a swim.

Great park. We run, play baseball, and have picnics here. Very safe, convenient, and the new parking arrangements allow easier accessibility to the areas you are looking to be at.

FPSF is just around the corner. Might be wise to take your bike down to the park and save the stress finding parking and getting through traffic from the event. Bring water! Gon' be hot!
Trails are almost finished. I can easily ride my bicycle from home, to memorial park, to downtown, to museum district to the zoo. best thing city of Houston has ever done that's affected me.
